HIGHLIGHT GRAMMAR · PRIVATE WRITING ASSISTANT

Privacy policy

Effective October 16, 2026

Highlight Grammar checks your writing with models that run inside Chrome on your own device. Your writing is never sent to us, to an AI service or to any other server.

What stays on your device

Model downloads and updates

The extension contacts our model service, hosted on Cloudflare, only to check for model releases and to download the models you choose. These requests name the model files and carry normal network information such as your IP address. They never include your writing or the pages you visit.

Request logging is turned off for the model service. Cloudflare processes IP addresses to deliver files and to apply a short-lived rate limit against abuse, and may keep limited operational data under the Cloudflare privacy policy.

Updates are checked at most once a day, or when you choose Check for updates. Updates are downloaded only when you choose to install them.

Website access

Highlight Grammar runs only on sites you turn on, or on all sites if you choose that setting, and only reads the writing field you are using. It skips password and payment fields. Clicking the toolbar icon also lets it run on the current tab, using Chrome’s activeTab permission. The websites you write on may store or sync your text themselves; this policy covers Highlight Grammar only.

No analytics, no selling

Highlight Grammar has no analytics, advertising or tracking, and no account. We do not sell, share or transfer user data, and we do not use it for any purpose unrelated to checking your writing. Copy diagnostics is a local action. It leaves out your writing unless you tick the box to include it, and nothing is sent anywhere unless you share it yourself.

Highlight Grammar’s use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
